    The Stakeholder Advisor, reporting to the Director, Strategy & Innovation, will be responsible for supporting major strategic stakeholder relations project and initiatives, as well as provide support to communications and government relations function within the department and across the organization. The position is responsible for developing, establishing, and maintaining relationships with ESA’s external stakeholders and other safety partners to promote ESA as a part of an articulated stakeholder strategy. The Stakeholder Advisor will also manage, support, and plan for all aspects of ESA’s Advisory Councils including meeting cycle management and agenda development, minutes and materials tracking/distribution, liaison with council Chairs and members, and working closely with other business units. They will also provide support for updating terms of reference, as required; perform periodic audits and recommendations on process, procedures and efficiencies of councils, while supporting stakeholder projects and stakeholder positions, including publications and reporting tools; support and promote ESA’s corporate goals.

    Expected Salary: $122,500

    The Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer is looking for a temporary full time Community Relations Coordinator to join the Communications and Engagement division for approximately two years.

    The Community Relations Coordinator will support the City’s commitment to delivering projects by building trust with the community, increasing transparency, and improving access to local government. This position is part of a strong team with a service-driven culture where each day presents fresh challenges and opportunities to tangibly impact the lives of City of North Vancouver’s residents, businesses, partners and visitors. In this exciting new position, you will act as a key interface between members of the public and Engineering, Parks and Environment teams engaged in major infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Manager of Civic Engagement, you will:

    • Build and maintain a database of interest holder organizations;
    • Help maintain proactive updates on major projects using listservs, mailouts, email and newsletters;
    • Implement community relations plans and notification strategies for major projects that prioritize timely and transparent outreach and address community concerns and questions;
    • Develop tactics to improve the City’s capacity to engage in an equitable and inclusive manner ensuring we can address barriers to reaching everyone;
    • Design, organize, and facilitate community meetings with members of the public to network and build positive working relationships;
    • Prepare reports, correspondence and other documents to support community updates;
    • Cultivate a strong and up-to-date body of knowledge of City initiatives;
    • Use customer service skills to resolve issues quickly; and
    • Liaise with communications team members on the creation of various tools to inform the public about key initiatives, their expected impacts and the opportunities for public involvement.

    Takes a lead role in engagement matters to support a wide variety of projects across the organization, including Public Works, Planning and Growth Management, Community Services and Strategic Initiatives. Works with departmental staff and community stakeholders to build and implement meaningful community engagement strategies on key planning initiatives. Provides strategic expertise to identify communications issues and risks. Forges strong relationships locally, nationally, and globally.

    Responsible for promoting and adhering to the Stakeholder and Community Engagement corporate policy to ensure a consistent approach to engage the community in the decision-making process to support the City’s strategic priorities, while meeting the statutory requirements of the Municipal Planning Act, Environmental Assessment EA processes and other relevant government legislation.
