Winner of IAP2's Organization of the Year in 2021, EngageMB grew out of a determination to transform the way the government connected with the public. Driven by a strong commitment to make Manitobans’ insights and knowledge the centre of decision-making, this online portal enables individuals to provide their input on government policy decisions. With 150,000 people -- nearly 10% of the province’s population -- registering to use it, this tool has been a huge success. Even during the pandemic, the level of engagement increased 470% over the year before.

About Richard Cormier
Richard is the executive director of operations, strategy and special projects and has been with the Manitoba government and the communications division since 2008. He first joined the division as a web analyst, taking progressively senior roles as senior web and social media analyst, acting director of digital communications and engagement, and most recently engagement director. His previous teams were responsible for Manitoba.ca, government’s contact center, department communications and engagement, media engagement and creative services. Richard played an integral role in launching the Manitoba government’s public engagement platform, EngageMB, in 2019, and was part of the team who received IAP2’s Core Values Award for Organization of the Year. Richard brings a whole-of-government perspective to his work, while promoting a culture of public engagement and advancing open government principles.
